Mechanical Engineering / Renewable Energy Department

Overview


It is one of the newly established academic departments, which was established at the beginning of the first semester of the academic year 2018/2019, to meet the needs of the Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab and regional world of mechanical engineers.

Mechanical engineers are specialized in the fields of renewable energy from the theoretical, practical and research aspects. The Mechanical Engineering / Renewable Energy specialty is a branch of engineering that combines the mechanical engineering and renewable energy specialties. It is specialized in studying methods of generating and transmitting various forms of energy in an effective, safe and economically feasible manner. Also, enables specialists to use it in all different fields of industry. As renewable energy has become an important field of study in recent times, due to the growing need for energy and the search for other forms of renewable energy has become an economic necessity.


Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Renewable Energy


Al-Balqa Applied University / Prince Al-Hussein Bin Abdullah II Academy for Civil Protection, grants bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering / renewable energy after the student has passed the approved study plan, which covers many topics in this engineering field, including:

  • Engineering Mechanics.
  • Refractories and fluids.
  • Electrical engineering.
  • Renewable energy sources.
  • Energy conversion, transmission and storage.
  • Energy Economics and Management.

Work Fields


A mechanical / renewable energy engineer can work in many fields such as:

  • All fields of work as a mechanical engineer such as, engineering offices, contracting companies, and others.
  • Power plants and major industrial companies.
  • Various public sectors such as ministries in addition to security agencies such as civil defense and the armed forces.

The study plan for the mechanical engineering / renewable energy major includes a number of knowledge fields such as:

4 Renewable energy sources Photovoltaic energy systems, conventional energy sources, renewable energy systems, solar energy, wind energy design, design of renewable energy systems
5 Energy transfer, transmission and storage Energy transfer, transmission and storage energy storage, green buildings
6 Energy economics and management Economics, energy efficiency, energy and environment, energy management and legislation

Engineering laboratories


The mechanical engineering / renewable energy specialty includes specialized laboratories equipped with the latest advanced and programmed educational devices, such as:

  • Fluid Laboratory .
  • Material Resistance Laboratory.
  • Electrical Engineering Laboratory.
  • Engineering Drawing Laboratories, both of which are manual (traditional) drawing and computer drawing.
  • Heat Transfer Laboratory / under construction.
  • Renewable Energy Laboratory / under construction.
  • Solar Energy Laboratory / under construction.

Credit Hours


The number of hours of the Study plan is (160) credit hours.

The credit hour fees are:

  • (60 Jordanian dinars) for the Jordanian student
  • (150 US dollars) for the non-Jordanian student
